If your application is to try and create a Church Email Directory, then this software might be of interest to you.

While many email programs include an email address book, sometimes those books can be quite limited.  Often they only work for one type of email - outlook, aol, yahoo or others.  And of course, the members of your Church likely use many email carriers.  So, what might be needed would be an email address book that is fairly universal, at least among windows computer email programs, such that many people could use the results of the data.

The software program "emailaddy" from rpsoft 2000 software is such a program.  We wanted a universal email address book for our usage.  So we created one.  We then added all of the features that we would like ourselves.  And then later, when it worked fine for us, we decided to offer it to the public for sale at a low price.

What makes this program fairly universal for windows programs is that it uses the computer clipboard to send data.  To use the data after you have selected the email addresses you wish using the names of the people you wish to write to, just aim your mouse cursor at the "to" window or "cc" window of your favorite email program and press "shift" and "insert" at the same time to "paste" the email addresses there without retyping.

And what if you merely want to send email addresses to another member of your Church in the body of the email?  Simply select the email addresses that you wish to enclose in your writing to that person and "paste" them into the body of your email.  Since emailaddy software uses the clipboard, the email addresses are now free to be used where you need them - in most windows programs.

Emailaddy Address Book A screen shot for our address book is shown on the right.  While it has a simple appearance, it has many features and can store over 1000 email addresses per file - and the number of files are unlimited. Options are many.  It allows for clicking multiple email addresses for sending out to many at one time.  It also allows setting up "groups" (the color items in the screen shot) that always contain multiple people.  And it has delete, merge, goto, and find capabilities.  It also automatically sorts into alphabetical order.  The address book has multiple pages (28 each side)  - as controlled by the up/down keys on each side. Uses the computer clipboard to make it somewhat universal to most all windows email programs - Outlook, AOL, Yahoo, and more.

Business Side and a Personal Side

As you look at the screen shot, note that there are two sides - a left side that could be used for business, and a right side for personal or general addresses.  The difference between the two sides is that the left side can be set up for a common address - such as used in a business or even for many friends who have email from the same carrier (such as @yahoo.com).  How the left side works is determined by the title that you modify for it - in the red color - above it.  If you put in an email address ending such as: "@BKIndustries.com" as the example shows, then the left side knows that all the left side addresses will need to have that portion of the email attached.  Therefore, you only need to write the other portion of the email on the left side.  The right side is a general side and always allows all email endings - which have to be provided.  If you decide to not use the left side for common endings and make that general also, you can do that by simply using a title for that side that does not start with "@".

Uses the Clipboard

This program is a very universal one since it uses the computer "clipboard" for transferring email information.  When you have selected the email addresses that you wish and then click "get" the email addresses are visible - and also sent to the computer clipboard.  Next, put your mouse cursor on your email program "to" location or "cc" location or other and press "shift" and "insert" on your computer at the same time.  The data is now pasted where you want it.  And yes, yes, of course, using this simple technique, you can also paste it to word processing or the bodies of emails themselves to tell others email addresses they want to know.

Some Features:

• More than 1000 email addresses allowed per file.  As many multiple files as you like are allowed via "load" and "save" capabilities.

• By clicking the box next to any address(es) you can send multiple emails out.  And yes, you can combine addresses on both the left and right sides

• It is a "general" email address book.  It uses the computer clipboard to send data.

• Since many pages are allowed via the up/ down keys on either side (28 pages each side) a "Find" routine is available to search either side for a person's name.

• File merge is included, in the event you have multiple email file lists and wish to combine them

• How to enter new names and emails?  Simply type them in in any blank space on either side!  If no blank space is showing, "Goto" help is provided to make that fast.  The pull down menu or using "Ctrl" and "n" at the same time will go to new space fast for you.

• Alphabetical sort is by name and happens automatically at load and save and at other times or at your command. (uses the standard Windows "f5" key for refresh).

• Alphabetical sort also gives preference to capital letters at the start of the name, allowing you to further control location in the directory.

• While nothing is totally safe from the virus people, this software makes it hard to get.  (1) it does not store email addresses within outlook or the normal places viruses look and (2) it uses minor modifications on the saved file such that even if a virus scans it, it will not look like email addresses.  Note that some viruses look for email address books - mostly in the "normal locations" to find names to send viruses out from your computer.  While no address book is totally safe, this one at least plays "hard to get"

• The Control is YOURs!  save and backup the files as simple text files wherever and whenever you wish.  Since the files are simple text files, the data is also retrievable from those.  While it is partially modified for your protection, it is still recognizable and can be recovered using simple "find and replace" techniques in a word processor.  If this seems complex to you, ask us.  We will try and help.  It is YOUR data, and should be under your control completely.

• Phone info?  Sometimes we also store the persons phone number on the "name side"- some times hiding it just off the screen.  So, we use this for a phone book also.  Of course any added data must be on the name side and not on the email sides.

• You can adjust the "delimiter" - the item that separates multiple email addresses.  Most email nowadays will accept a comma "," as a delimiter.  Outlook used to require a semicolon, but later versions of it accept commas also.  Change this if you need to for your email program.

Convenience, protection, usability over multiple email programs, and at least some minor protection from virus, and it is at a low price.  Our motto for this software is "From now on, loose only those email addresses that you want to!".
