Filemod software by rpsoft 2000 software might just be what you
need for your application.
Many programs and utilities will not change file extensions -
but filemod will - either one at a time or a who directory in bulk. For
example, if you had a whole directory of files that end in ".html" and you
decide that you prefer the "htm" ending - no problem. Just use extension
change in filemod. More on extension changes
here.
 
Note: this example shows a directory of files changed
from ".html" to ".htm".
Since filemod has a number of options it would do the above in
either of two ways:

Use "extension" option to change all files in the directory
or nested directories to ".htm"
-
Use "file name find and replace" option to look in the
directory or nested directories for any occurrence of ".html" and replace
that with ".htm."
