Computer Safety
This section is of course just offered as a help. Customers
need to make their own decisions regarding computer safety.
It is recommended, however, that it is a good general practice to
ensure backups of critical data on your computer at regular intervals.
Modifications or additions to your hard drive files or settings will
always involve some risk due to the nature of Windows shared system
files. It is also recommended that computer users become familiar
with Microsoft help on emergency recovery or backup systems that will
allow restart of their computer after problems.
backups
It is also important to remember that data programs such as
"emailaddy" (for email addresses) and "membank" for (common phrases
stored and re-used) may contain data files that represent much work by a
customer. Please back up these data files on occasion in a second
safe location that is also away from your main computer. Backup the
files either to floppy disk, cd, another computer, or something similar.
rpsoft 2000
general policies for reliability
These are general policies by rpsoft 2000 that we try to adhere to to
make our software more useable. They of course are not guarantees,
and may be subject to change in the future.
Microsoft Compatibility
rpsoft 2000 software is designed for usage with Windows operating
system (98, 2000, Me, XP and likely also NT). The important
portions of the software used - the software language itself - plus the
all important system loader - are both manufactured by Microsoft.
So compatibility with windows operating systems should be quite high
since the main ingredients of all of the important software comes from
the same corporation - Microsoft. The system loader that we refer
to is the software that determines which system subroutines a customer
will need on their computer in order to run the specific programs -
rpsoft 2000 programs in this case. This Microsoft loader then
loads the needed system subroutines along with the rpsoft 2000 main
programs, and that all becomes part of the program loader that customers
will download. The Microsoft loader then, in the customers
machines, reviews the customers system files already in their computer
and makes a judgment if an need to be replaced or updated. Since
all of this thinking is again by the same corporation - Microsoft - the
highest compatibility should be at hand.
No Bugs Added
In our sold software and in our rpsoft2000.com web site, rpsoft 2000 adds no bugs, intrusive
software, cookies or any other items intended to intrude or otherwise
invade customer privacy. The license agreement - one user
(as many machines as one user owns and uses by themselves) and only one
user per copy - is under an honor system. Please abide by this
license agreement and distribute no illegal copies. We would like
very much to continue our current trend of not adding software within
our programs to guard against customer issues. We hope that we all agree
that good useable programs without nonsense are a better approach.
The above "no bugs added" is actually saying a lot, since it is common on many web sites
to add web bugs, cookies or files on your computer to track your actions
or cause different computer operation. Our web site has no bugs.
Our software currently does not either.
Simple Text Files
Several of the programs contain option and help files such that
customer options are remembered between usage times. Options files
are normally done by rpsoft2000 as simple text files - and stored in the
same location as your program. In fact, one could move (and we do
this all of the time) the program and its associated files (after it is
loaded of course) to another computer location on the hard drive where
you might store data that you often wish to save or backup.
Customer Privacy
and rpsoft 2000 approach to Customer Privacy
We believe that Customer privacy is a serious thing. Comments
sent into rpsoft 2000 including email addresses as well as all customer
information is not shared with any other third party. The data
currently is used only to verify support questions as coming from a
valid customer. Emails sent from rpsoft 2000 will be kept
reasonable. To this date we have only sent one email - that to a
customer who ordered "membank" right before a new version was available.
We offered to upgrade because of the close timing.
