BJ Game README FILE (program for the pc type computer) rpsoft_2000 Thank you for acquiring rpsoft_2000's BJ Game program! BASIC HELP Note that many instructions are available on the program itself under help. Note also that help has both a find routine and an index. LOADING THE PROGRAM The program file will be provided as a single zip file. It would be best to store a copy of the downloaded file in a second place in case a second computer load is needed. If the file name ends in ".exe" then the file is self extracting, and one just needs to run and execute the file. If the original downloaded file ends in ".zip" then one must unzip the file. During the program setup of course it is best as always to exit all other programs and then respond to the questions asked during setup. Answer YES if asked if it is okay to write over Windows temporary files. You will be asked where to store the program in the computer and what group to place the startup icon in. Of course one should remember these locations for starting the program later. Important - if System file changes are needed, the file may prompt and a computer restart may be needed. If this happens or if the program does not load the first time, execute it a second time. A system file update or another program operating in the background can potentially stop a load. In extreme cases, restart your computer before trying the load again afterwards to ensure all others programs are not running. Our apologies for any inconvenience during load. If not changed during load, the program files will be stored under C:\Program Files\(program name). Program start will be under Programs under the start key (computer left bottom) and will be located under rpsoft_2000\(program name). STARTING THE PROGRAM To begin the program, go to the windows start button on the lower left of the computer screen and click it. Put your mouse on "programs" and a list of programs and program file locations will show. Move the mouse rightward and up and down as necessary to find the location where the program startup is stored. This should be the same location as indicated during the program load. If you have not modified the load location, the program should be under the program name or under rpsoft_2000 and then the program name. Click the program icon to start the load. MORE ICONS If you wish an icon on the computer screen for this program startup, locate the program as indicated above and then right mouse click on the program and select "Create Shortcut". After the copy is created, use your mouse to drag (hold down the left mouse button) this startup copy onto your screen with your mouse. Note that once you have an icon startup on the desktop, that you can also if you wish simply drag that icon to the lower left of the computer screen icons for fast program startup later with a single click. Note also, that right clicking on icons also will allow one to rename them, among other things. SCREEN SIZE Screen Size - Note that the screen for actual blackjack play (cards used) can be sized. Best to wait until the program is stopped and prompting you though before changing screen size. The screen size should be adjustable from just under a 600 by 800 pixel size on up to more pixels in size. In many screen sizes, you might just be able to click the rectangle in the upper right of the blackjack game and allow it to go to full screen size. OPTIONS Options may be changed at program start or at any time during the game. Please ensure the program is at rest and waiting for your input before changing options however. Since the options do include deck number changes, the program will force a re-shuffle right after leaving the option screen to ensure no card errors due to a deck change. If setting options, note that if you wish a large change in the blackjack rules themselves such as switching between Blackjack, Spanish 21 or Super Fun 21 Single Deck to ensure to use the presets first. Presets are changed by touching the mouse to the right hand side arrow on the options and left clicking it to show the possibilities. Then just select the possibility with your mouse. Presets MUST be used for Spanish 21 and Super Fun 21 Single Deck since not all of the options for these are shown individually separately. DECK MOD If the game comes complete with a Deck Mod option, please be careful on modifying the deck. The problem is that if one is not careful, there can be insufficient cards in play and the game could jam. There is no normal situation where deck mod is needed. The program will automatically remove the 10 cards when in Spanish 21 and put them back in for normal blackjack. Deck mod should be considered an advanced option. ROBOTS The robots are simply company at the table. It makes the game seem more realistic. There are 100 possible robot (shills) names. For these 100 there are 25 different playing / betting styles. STARTING OUT Not sure how to begin? If playing just one person, a fun game is at the start to allow robots at the first three seats and then take the last seat as a player. That is my favorite. Seems like great company. And of course, it is usually a good idea to stake oneself well. You are allowed, however, to play with a stake that is negative. The robots / shills on the other hand, will be changed at the table by others if they go too much negative. COLOR I find that this program (and also many others) look best on the screen if display settings are set to 16 bit or 16 bit hi-color rather than 256 colors. This setting is located in the Control Panel under Display and then settings. LIMITATIONS Due mostly to space on the table, each player is only allowed one split for two hands total. Each hand is only allowed 8 cards maximum due to the same space reason. If a player has 8 cards they will automatically win. The dealer will also stop at 8 cards max but does not automatically win. HINT CHARTS Note that Hint Charts are available for the basic game being played. The f2 key will bring up a simplified hint chart. The f3 key will bring up the more complex one for the game being played. Of course one can also look under Help in the pull down menu also. FINALLY - Have Fun!
