COMPED BLACKJACK TERMS DICTIONARY

| COMPED In casino gambling, the term "comped" is short for the word "compensation". What it means is that casinos like to reward their biggest gamblers and also to invite them back again to their casino - especially when business is slow. How this works is that many casinos allow players to have "player cards" - and these player cards track their betting while betting at that casino - or at affiliated casinos. If the gambler bets "enough" - then the player may be "comped" with free meals, part or all of their room expense paid for, or other compensation. Some of the biggest and most important gamblers to a casino, who are often called "whales", can receive free usage of exceptional suites and all meals and drinks free - and perhaps even compensation beyond that.
