| DOUBLE DECK In the game of Blackjack, the term double deck means simply that two decks of cards are used for the game. Since two decks are used, the dealer would normally just hold these two decks in their hand and not use a shoe. A two deck game of blackjack is generally more favorable in odds to the blackjack player than a games with more decks, such as 6 or 8 decks or a continuous shuffling machine. The fewer decks, the more favorable to the player - unless of course the house changes the basic blackjack games rules such as going to 6:5 blackjack instead of the normal blackjack pay. If the house is using 6:5 blackjack for a 2 deck game, then even a 6 or 8 deck blackjack game would be more favorable to a player.
