Changing File Attributes - in bulk
Changing file attributes in bulk - meaning many files at one time - is just
one of the many features of the rpsoft 2000 filemod program.
Applications:
Some operating systems and programs allow one to change file attributes to
make files "system" type or "non-system" type, but many do not. Similarly
some will allow change of file attributes to "archive" type or to "non-archive"
type, but again, many do not. While we do agree that an application to
change system file attributes or archive file attributes might not be needed
everyday, filemod can make those changes - and can even change attribute type in
bulk such as one or more directories at once. We have had the need at
times to change system file attributes ourselves. One of the reasons that
it is programmed into "filemod" is that we had the need for it, and we believe
that others might also.
How to Fix
Changing file attributes to read and write one at a time would be tedious.
Filemod software can change these in bulk. Simply put all the files that
you are reading to your computer in their own separate directory as you read
them from the CD ROM drive or DVD drive. By this we mean to keep the files
together, at least for the time being. Then adjust filemod's action under
"File Attributes" to either "make system" - to make file
attributes to system type, or adjust it to the "make archive" function which will
make all files, archive type. Then ensure that filemod
is pointed at the correct "directory(s) to modify" and click "start".
The filemod program can modify many nested directories that may include
thousands of files very quickly. Note that for system file usage that the
safety box on "do not change system files" must not be checked in order to view
the files.
